Meeting: The women's way

I did not have much work to do in the court on February 18, 2010, and went to see a professor, along with Aasma. The professor was busy in a meeting and Aasma decided to show me the Darul Aman (women’s shelter home).

I entered the office and found five women discussing something. One of them was shelter home boss speaking Urdu in frontier dialect, one was a chunky gynecologist, one was doctor’s friend and two were typical NGO girls, who had grabbed all my attention.

The doctor was planning to have an “experience-sharing meeting” with the rest of the women. They wanted the meeting to take place outside the office so that they can discuss their “work” freely. After a heated discussion involving a lot of brain storming, the ladies narrowed down the list of venues to two restaurants. Some more arguments and counter arguments on the quality of food, brought the meeting on a consensus of going to one certain restaurant.

Aasma also invited me to accompany them, but I turned down the opportunity as I did not want to disturb the ladies discussing their official business. The lunch was billed to some NGO and the minutes of the meeting, according to my guess and estimate, would have been tailors, fabrics and scandals. That’s how ladies discuss work.
