A friend recently shared a post on facebook about the social services we Pakistanis are taught when we are growing up. When I was growing up, the only social service I found people doing on the road was gesturing to a lady in a car that her doupata is hanging outside the vehicle from below the car door or telling a biker that the rest stand of his bike is still deployed. Years later, when I went to work in a newspaper where one or two foreigners would also work with us, it was then that I realized that how miser we Pakistanis are when it comes to using the wonderful words i.e. please and thank you. It’s rare to see people smiling at each other.
Something which gave me a culture shock, when I visited US!
