Hyderabad school wins French award

A school providing education to street children in Hyderabad, Pakistan, got a human rights prize from the government of France in recognition of its services.
Ilm Jo Sojhro, a little known school in Qasimabad Taluka, imparting free education in Sindhi to street children, has won the ‘Human Rights Prize 2009 of the French Republic’. Numerous non-governmental organisations from all over the world submitted their projects. Ilm jo Sojhro is run by Aly Bossin and his wife Shahana Bhurgari Bossin to protect and empower street children of the city since 2003.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner decorated the winners in Paris on Dec 10. Consul General of France in Karachi Pierre Seillan awarded the distinguished medal to Aly Bossin and his wife Shahana.

It's one odd non-government organisation without SUVs, massive foreign funding and glittery girls. We need to have more such schools and we need to encourage them. I have never heard about the couple who runs this school and any meeting with them is also not possible. My only small contribution to their cause is this post.
